Acro Ability Level Requirements

 

 

 

  When entering the Acro/Dance category, dancers must follow the following

 Acro Ability Level Requirements

AS WELL AS

the standard dance Ability level Requirements.

NOVICE & BEGINNING

Cartwheels, One handed Cartwheels, Dive cartwheels, Bridges, Limbers, Any type of Forward or Backward roll, Back & Front Limbers (coming up on two feet from a bridge or going into a back bend bridge from two feet), Chin Stands, Chest Stands, and Hand Stands are permitted.  YOU may do a series of any of the listed above skills without penalty.  NO aerials, NO walkovers (forward or backward), NO front or back handsprings, NO airborne skills other than dive cartwheels or dive forward rolls.

SPOTLIGHT RULE – You may spotlight dancers one skill level up in acro skills just as you can for dance skills.  SOLO routines may NOT go up a skill level to spotlight any acro or dance skills.

INTERMEDIATE I

All skill listed in Beginning plus Front & Back Walkovers, Front & Back Handsprings, Side aerials, and round-off into ONE back handspring or back walkout.  You may do a series of “land skills” but you may NOT do a series of anything airborne ( ie. Back handsprings or back walkouts, side aerials, etc.) NO airborne skill can land on the bum, knees, thighs, or heels/calf area, only FEET landings. NO Back flips, Back walkouts, Back layouts, or Front aerials are allowed in this level.

SPOTLIGHT RULE – You may spotlight dancers one skill level up in acro skills just as you can for dance skills.  SOLO routines may NOT go up a skill level to spotlight any acro or dance skills.

INTERMEDIATE II

All skill listed in Int. I plus Tinsicas (Spiders), Valdez, Front aerials, and a series of Back handsprings or back walkouts, and a series of aerials.  Front aerials are allowed. You may also execute airborne skills that land in a CONTROLLED position involving bum, thighs, calves/heels, hands to tummy, knees ..ie “pancakes”.  Penalties may be given for not executing these skills in a controlled/safe manner.  You may NOT do back flips or back layouts.

SPOTLIGHT RULE – You may spotlight dancers one skill level up in acro skills just as you can for dance skills.  SOLO routines may NOT go up a skill level to spotlight any acro or dance skills.

ADVANCED

Any airborne tumbling is acceptable as long as the dancer has the skill set and strength to safely execute the skill.  NO double twists or double flips are allowed!  You may combine any series of tumbling/acro skills as long as can safely execute the combination of skills within your “space”.
